A New Year for Aromatherapy, Meditation, Yoga & You

Greetings for the New Year, my friends!!  Can you believe it's that time again?  Wow, what changes 2017 has seen.  Did you know we're coming up on my first year anniversary of entering into this blog?  My, the things I've learned & I think the biggest lesson I've learned is how much I don't know!!  Lol

I'm excited about what 2018 has waiting for us.  2017 has blessed me with so many ideas on how to help you that I'm darn near bursting with excitement!

Let me share with you some of the ideas of what's in store for us in 2018.  As you may know, I published my first YouTube video on 12/27/17.  It was about how I mix the oils for a Skin Healing Blend.

Yes, you guessed it, there will be more of these "How to" videos.  The goal is to release at least one a month.

I've also mapped out a Meditation plan & Yoga plan, blended, of course, with Aromatherapy.  My goal in these will be to release one of each at the beginning of the quarter.  It will highlight my progress along the maps.

The purpose of these videos will be to show you how to improve your Meditation & Yoga skills, regardless of where you start.  I am embarrassed to think of how poorly I will show in the beginning, but we're going to focus on the goal & do this together.  Together we will learn how to focus on a goal, how to forgive ourselves for getting off track & what it looks like when we love ourselves continually.

We will be discussing more Essential Oils.  We will learn how to use them in our daily lives & how to trust them.  We will practice Aromatherapy & talk about what we like about it.

My goal for tomorrow is to record the first videos of where I am on my Aromatherapy, Meditation & Yoga for the first quarter.  Watch for them!!

I thank you for your time.  Til next we meet, Be Blessed.

Clove Bud Essential Oil

My friends, welcome, welcome!  It is always such a pleasure to have you join me.  I look forward to our time together.
Today’s Essential Oil in our study of Aromatherapy is, you guessed it, Clove Essential Oil.  I don’t know about you, but my first thought when I heard “Clove” was of the hard, little things Mom put on her baked ham.  I have a memory of biting into one as a child, but it’s rather vague.  Guess that means it wasn’t too traumatic.  Lol

Well, there’s more to Cloves than an herb for great tasting ham.  It’s analgesic, antiaging, antibacterial, anticlotting, antispasmodic, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant & antiseptic.  It used to aid in the purification of the blood, as an expectorant & an insecticide.  It’s known for its aphrodisiac & stimulating properties.  Cloves are also used to treat skin issues, toothache, indigestion, coughs, asthma, headache & stress.  It’s useful in treating insomnia & neural disorders.  Yes, clove is another one of those you need for your first aid kit.
Clove has been used extensively in ancient Indian & Chinese civilizations.  During the seventh & eighth centuries it spread to Europe.  For many years it was one of the most valuable of the spice wars.

Clove is an evergreen tree.  It produces a flower bud, often referred to as the clove bud.  This bud has a shaft & head which resembles a nail.  Latin for nail is clavus & the French word is clou.  There’s some debate regarding which one is the inspiration for naming the tree.

Now, while I’m telling you this is an awesome Essential Oil for your first aid kit, it’s a kind of forgotten oil.  In my research of Aromatherapy, Clove Essential Oil hasn’t really been mentioned.  It came to my attention because of my bonus daughter, Linda.

Linda is a young wife of six years & they have 3 children, 5 years old & down.  They’ve had some rough spots & are financially challenged.  The whole family has  sensitivities to different allergens, so Linda has been looking for more natural cleansers that fit their budget.

When Linda found herself in a position of a possible tooth infection & truly detesting the dentist, she decided to search for a different path.   Again, looking for something natural & budget friendly.  She found a recipe that called for Turmeric spice, Coconut Oil, Clove Essential Oil & Sea Salt.

That’s when Clove Essential Oil became my next interest.  She had checked & didn’t find any, so she reached out to me.  I found Aura Cacia Organic Clove Bud (Eugenia caryophyllata) & stocked my shelf.  Within a few days she had her supply & made her recipe.  First thing the next morning Linda is letting me know the pain is gone.  She continues to use it, to help heal her teeth & gums.

That led me, of course, to learning more about Clove Essential Oil.  Oh & what I’ve found!  I’ve already mentioned a bunch of it.  Now I’ll go into a bit more of the details.

Clove buds have been used for relieving oral pain, throat pain & bad breath.  That has made it one of the oldest remedies in dentistry.  In ancient India they would chew on a clove to freshen their breath before speaking with the king.  Drops of Clove Oil was applied to a clean piece of cloth, then put on the aching tooth while they slept, after a few days the tooth would be healed.  Gargling with diluted clove oil is still used for healing sore gums & mouth ulcers.  It eases throat irritation & pain.  Only use Clove Essential Oil when diluted, never neat.

In 1914 the Thomas Adams Company first manufactured a chewing gum flavored with cloves.  You can still buy it, but only every few years.  The company will make a batch for certain occasions.

Now that we have stated the warning, I also want to share that there have been some recent studies.  These studies show that when highly diluted Clove Essential Oil is applied to a teething baby’s gums the antiseptic & soothing qualities greatly numb the pain & reduce the discomfort.

Apply diluted Clove Essential Oil to your face.  It can help heal acne.  Because of its rejuvenating & stimulating properties, it increases the blood flow under the skin.  This can aid in healthier & younger looking skin.

Whether you use the clove buds or the Clove Essential Oil, you’re boosting your immune system.  Its ability to cleanse the blood, plus its antiviral property increase your resistance to a multitude of diseases.  The antioxidant property scavenges your body, clearing the dangerous free radicals that are known to cause diseases like heart diseases & certain cancers.

Clove Essential Oil is known to be a natural aphrodisiac. As such it is excellent at reducing your stress level.  It stimulates the brain, removing mental fatigue & exhaustion.  It also can be helpful in the relief from insomnia.  It has been used in successfully treating memory loss, depression & anxiety.

The cooling & anti-inflammatory effect of Clove Essential Oil makes it wonderful for clearing nasal passages.  The expectorant property makes it a useful treatment for respiratory disorders like bronchitis, asthma, tuberculosis, sinusitis, even coughs & colds.

It's effective in treating indigestion issues & flatulence.  It reduces nausea & vomiting.  Diffusing Clove Essential Oil can be calming & can result in positive effects.

Mixing clove oil & sesame oil, then warming it, is a good remedy for ear aches.  The analgesic property will ease the discomfort, while the anti-inflammatory property will reduce the irritation.

Clove Essential Oil, when mixed with a little sea salt, can provide relief from headaches.  Apply it to the forehead, temples or neck for relief.  The anti-inflammatory property eases tension, the increased blood flow brings oxygen, the analgesic property eases the pain & the aphrodisiac property reduces the stress.

And there’s still more.  The aroma of Clove Essential Oil is a natural bug repellent.  Because of its ability to cleanse & purify the blood, there is belief it is useful in preventing & treating cancer.  For the same reason it is thought to aid in controlling diabetes.

I do believe Clove Essential Oil has proven to be a necessary part of any natural first aid kit.  Even in it’s dried & ground states, it’s an excellent addition for our overall health.

As always, my friends, I pray there is at least one nugget you can take with you.  Please leave me a nugget in the comment section below.

I thank you for your time.  Til next we meet, Be Blessed.
